I was inspired to write this book for my eighth grade service project because it combines my love of cooking and my passion to help animals. When I was five years old my family and I adopted a dog from a rescue shelter. He was thrown in a dumpster as a puppy somewhere in Tennessee. The thought of it breaks my heart and ever since then I have had a soft spot for rescue dogs and shelter dogs. Max is truly a member of our family. He is the mascot of this book and my official taste tester!
This book incorporates recipes you can cook for your dog along with recipes for the human members of your family. In this way all members of the family including furry friends can enjoy. I used my family's own recipes and many recipes I made up on my own for this book.
The proceeds of this cookbook are being donated to SUFA (Stand Up For Animals), a local animal shelter, in Westerly, Rhode Island. This organization strives to help animals in Westerly and local counties. Choosing SUFA combines my love of cooking, love of dogs and the love of my hometown, Westerly!
